At His & Hers Waxing, we’re dedicated to providing all our clients with highly efficient, lasting waxing and other hair removal techniques. We offer a variety of men’s and women’s waxing packages, ranging from Brazilian and bikini waxing services to facial waxing and several other themes.
In addition to our valuable services provided in our professional waxing setting, we’re also happy to provide various areas of expertise and advice for the periods in between waxes to all our clients. There are several areas we might touch on here, from recommended skincare products that may benefit your skin to recommendations for avoiding sun exposure. In addition, some clients – particularly those who experience rapid hair growth – ask us for natural home methods to slow hair growth in certain areas or even just their entire body. Here are a few such natural methods to consider.
You may be surprised to hear it, but there are actually direct connections between stress hormones produced by the body and the way the body’s hair grows. Namely, stress – whether pertaining to hair loss or a variety of other subjects – is known to increase the body’s production of androgen, a growth hormone that plays a role in several bodily traits.
Testosterone, an example of a type of androgen, will often increase in males who are overly stressed, for instance. This is a natural protection method from the body. If you’re able to address your stress causes and work to limit them, however, this will normalize your androgen production and help balance out these hormones, often leading to slowed hair growth in those who were experiencing more rapid growth previously.
There are also a couple supplements or natural herbs you might consider for slowing hair growth:
- Vitamin E: A strong antioxidant, vitamin E often acts as an antagonist to hormone increases in males. It may even block production of certain androgens. While this can only be used by men for this purpose, it’s often effective in slowing hair growth.
- Palmetto: Among several herbal supplements that may assist with slowing hair growth, palmetto is one of the most commonly used. It’s a natural herb that helps even out hormone imbalances and androgen production.
Facial Hard Wax
Finally, for those concerned about persistent or rapid facial hair growth in particular, there are certain home hard wax products that may be beneficial in addition to our in-office services. Many of these hard wax products require no strip for the process – the wax itself firms as it cools, allowing it to be pulled off by the user directly. These products tend to be ideal for shorter, coarser hair on the face.
